Clarification: I did get physically beat up by a few white guys and other categories of human and not just by black guys. (Also, I meant to say that what I went through on the BART train (and getting punched in the face in particular) was supposedly a rite of passage (especially as a man living in the dark ages). Thankfully I have never been seriously physically assaulted. I do not let such incidents deter me from living my life as freely as I do (and I still camp outside almost every night or whenever I sleep). If done right (i.e. having a job which is sufficient to pay for one’s living expenses and some luxuries, living in a decent part of the world which makes living without a car feasible, pursuing an ongoing education, maintaining physical and mental fitness, et cetera), living outside can be more comfortable than living inside (and a way to avoid being encumbered with the hefty costs of renting or owning a housing unit).
